China removes restrictions on the Internet for Olympics

The chinese government has removed restrictions on Internet for the Olympic Games, only for only the media covering the event. The rest of china still under censorship by the chinese government.

Has been achieved by pressure from the International Olympic Committee, but the media and journalists talk only of sport.

Some websites deemed subversive by the chinese government, such as those related to pornography or contrary to national interests, remain blocked.

The body of human rights Amnesty International, whose website is among the censored in China, condemned the restrictions as something that “committed to fundamental human rights and betrays the Olympic values.”

Also Web reporters without borders, which has criticized the agency IOC and China, remains blocked since 2003.
